The Start For LifeTM program is available at participating YMCA early learning centers* and works to improve the health of young children by promoting an appreciation for a healthy, physically active lifestyle into adulthood.
Children ages 3 to 5 participate in the program five times per week for 30 minutes in
each session. Each session includes high energy physical activities (to increase heart rate) and a short
educational component where children learn about healthy eating and setting goals.
Start For LifeTM is available on-site at the child's YMCA early learning center and provides a variety of fun activities to help build strength, endurance (cardiovascular fitness), and flexibility. In addition, a series of self-management skills-building exercises are used to reinforce healthy behaviors over time.
